Reducing Waste in my work

Reducing Waste

#MarchMeettheMaker – The 11th prompt for Joanne Hawker’s March Meet the Maker challenge is Reducing waste.

I recycle copper when I can. – Copper pipes are fun to shape into sculptures and jewellery. – Copper salvaged from old tanks can be made into wall art, sculptures, jewellery… wherever your imagination takes you really.

Here is my instagram post about it

Reducing waste is the 11th prompt for #MarchMeettheMaker I up-cycle and recycle copper when I can. – Copper pipes are fun to shape into sculptures and jewellery. – Salvaged copper from things like old copper tanks can be made into wall art, sculptures, jewellery… wherever your imagination takes you really. When I can get old copper I use that, if not I try to buy copper off cuts for the smaller things I make. Nothing is wasted! And I should just add that the wooden background of the Owl picture is made from #Upcycled pallet wood. Waste not want not – I can’t remember who used to say this to us a lot when we were kids but it is something that has stayed in my mind. Little things like all my lovely handmade by Mum frocks used to go down a long line of cousins till they became unwearable. Cast off clothes were so cool. Still are… #Reducingwaste #wastenotwantnot #upcycle #recycle #copperpipe #coppertank #watertank #boilertank #upcycledcopper #recycledcopper #coppersmith #marchmeetthemaker2019
