Creative Challenge: Turmi Necklace

I wrote about the Turmi Creative challenge by Dini Bruinsma from Angaza by Changes in my last post. I made a bracelet with copper and silver wire inspired by the colours in the photo Dini posted.

Decided to take it a step forward and made a necklace to go with the bracelet. It matches but is not exactly the same design. The flower theme is carried from the bracelet, but 3 flowers instead of one. The necklace chain is a mix of Copper and silver coils individually handmade. Like the bracelet the flowers in the necklace are a combination of copper and silver. I used 1mm Copper and Silver plated copper wire to create the flowers with a jasper bead in the middle attached with twisted copper wire.

I also made earrings to go with the necklace / bracelet. So we have flower earrings but they are pure copper, no silver bits. The three pieces complement each other nicely but are just that little bit different from each other to make it a jewellery set with a difference.

As I said in the last post I made that there are some absolutely amazing designs submitted for this competition. While it would be fantastic to win the challenge I am just so glad I am participating. There have been lovely comments from fellow designers and a decent amounts of “likes” on the pictures I posted on Facebook 🙂 That has given me a lot of confidence.
