Wire Art Bra… Artisans for Charity

At one of our Stamford Artisans Guild meetings my friend and fellow guild member Eve Marshall proposed the idea of doing something creative that challenged us a lot and at the same time gave something to a good cause . She suggested making an Art Bra in support of Cancer Research UK. This was last year. Then we all went very quiet on it but we didn’t forget! And on Saturday, 18 May 2013 you will be able to see the wonderful creative effort by guild members. They have made / decorated Bras using the medium they work in so there is Felting, Crochet, Knitting but also Glass, Wood, Paper, Cake, Wire etc. and a photograph you just have to see!

We look forward to seeing you at The Stamford Arts Centre on 18 May where the Bras are being exhibited for the first time. It is for a wonderful cause and your support matters! To us and to Cancer Research UK. There is also a fantastic Locally Hand-made Craft Market with over 30 stalls and Craft demonstrations!

Wire Art Bra Making Proicess
Art Bra: Wire Fun!

My Wire Art Bra is a tribute to two brave women who are very dear to me. For my aunt Indu (Chachi) who sadly lost her fight and for my lovely friend Callie whose determination & strength in sticking two fingers to breast cancer should be an inspiration to us all! This is for both of you.

Art Bra: Lots of wire used!

I work with wire and make jewellery & wire sculpture trees. So I just had to use my favourite medium because it inspires me to dare and try new things. I think Indu Chachi would have approved and I think this bra will appeal to Callie’s sense of humour and her creative outlook to life.

Sorry I can’t show you what it looks like yet, come to Stamford Arts Centre on 18 May between 10 AM – 4 PM in your are in Stamford area. And if you are not local keep an eye out for the blog post I will publish on 18th!
